Our Mission

Our community has spoken, we love the playscape at Patterson Park. It was designed by our children and built by our neighbors in 1991. Friends of Patterson Playscape’s mission is to fundraise, organize, and promote the caretaking of this community staple.

Our Summer Plans

Clean. Coat. Color.

We need your help this summer! Our plans extending through the remainder of the year are:

  • Repair worn boards in the seating area

  • Thoroughly clean and seal

  • Restore original colors to damaged paint/characters on the

  • Fill the sandbox

  • Commemorating the original community project with a plaque

Built in 1991

“Playscape in the Park” was a magical project organized by Grosse Pointe Park citizens to build a playscape for the city’s children.

$7,200 in fundraised pennies. 1,200 volunteers. Pink hats. Kid-designed.

There are countless stories that went into our playscape.
